CALL FOR ARTISTS: PAINTED POWER BOXES



Salisbury Arts & Entertainment District’s Public Art committee, in cooperation with the
City of Salisbury, is looking for artists to paint electric utility boxes in Downtown Salisbury,
MD.
Artists must be 18 years or older to apply. Artists do not need to be residents of Salisbury, MD, but some connection to Salisbury is preferred. Previous applicants and awardees are encouraged to apply.
Interested Artists must submit:
- Application form (link below)
- Several examples of their work (3-5 images)
- A design proposal
- A sketch or rendering of how the design would appear applied to a power box both front and back (templates provided)
Eight artists’ design proposals will be selected. Selected artists will be compensated $750.00 for their successful initial proposals. Design proposals will then be submitted to the Maryland State Arts Council’s Public Art Planning Grant program for further funding consideration.
Once the MSAC Public Art Grant is successfully obtained, selected artists will receive an additional $2,000.00 to complete their artworks within twelve months, as well as, additional stipends for materials. Strict production and materials standards are attached, and must be adhered to.
